This new company has one thing right: patch management is a freakin' nightmare with large ERP and database software. However, from the application perspective, automated patch management assumes that nothing is customized in the objects being patched, which means that this automation can be used by...no one. Patch management is more of a business analysis exercise than a systems administration task, and I don't see where this product addresses that...

I think they really are competing with the PC support outsourcers instead. I know more than a few of them wouldn't mind passing off their Windows configuration headaches to Redmond...

Cognitive neuroscience is one of my hobbies (I know, I have to get out more), so this is very interesting to me. I'm reminded of a Lionel Ritchie interview where he said that the "radio in his head" played original songs, and he just transcribed them. Some people are just lucky, I guess...
